The buzz about a new cleaning solution

Bus way System Maintenance

Although it can't be seen, it's there. It is often ignored until it begins to fall and clog the machines and stress the employees that have no other choice than to breathe it in. What is it you ask? Dust, and lots of it.

Century Building Services Inc. has developed the solution. Not only to clean the ceiling area but also the interior bus ways.

There are 600 to 3000 volts of electric current running through the Bus way in solid copper conductors, which attracts the dust and dirt in the air. If a section blows, it is very costly to replace and would cause serious downtime.

When a Bus way needs to be fixed or replaced, it takes at least 120 days to replace and can cost millions in lost production and the potential loss of contracts from customers. Century Building Services has developed a way into the tiny ventilation slots of the Bus way to keep all components clean and operational. This is a Patent Pending Process.

The customer will normally thermal image the Bus way looking for hot spots - copper bar erosion, dirt, and splitting or lifting of the tape that is wrapped around the conductors as an insulator are the normal problems they encounter. Paint oven environments are an especially large concern. That's when Century Building Services Inc. goes into action.

Because of the electric current running through the Bus way, they can not be cleaned with liquid cleaners that have a volatile flash point or that leave a residue. The entire area is blanketed and curtained to catch all contaminates. Then, using all safety precautions necessary, the cleaners harness themselves into the lift, an articulate boom that can move in four positions above the machines. They wear hard hats, ventilators, goggles and have a spot man on the floor. Only working 20 minutes at a time due to the heat trapped near the ceiling. Century Building Services Inc. has developed and implemented a comprehensive saftey policy.  A thorough lock-out of the line to be worked on is engaged by the client and the Century Building Services Inc. Staff Supervisor.

Once the inside is done, the outside needs to be tackled, and again you cannot use the normal liquid cleaners.

The process may be expensive but it is well worth it when you see the results.  The product does not release any airborne contaminants into the plant environment.

"Necessity is the mother of all new ideas".

Century Building Services Inc. is the first company in 20 years to have developed a cleaning solution that Decoma-Rimply Div. of Magna International Group of Companies has approved. Until now, our competitors had always walked away from this concern because they either couldn't shut down the line for a long period of time, liability, CO2 incompatibility, or non-approval of chemical applications involved in the process.
